On 11–14 May we gave a laser cleaning workshop for Wrocław School of Artisan Crafts and Management students. The participants were grouped in small, 4-person teams that explored the practical aspects of the heritage laser cleaning method. Each student, supervised by the instructor, had an opportunity to clean his or her own workpiece.
It was also an opportunity for mutual learning as the pieces brought in by students posed a wide range of often very complex challenges. During the workshop, we cleaned stone details saved from a fire, medieval gildings, repainted carved wood elements, and concrete casts covered with deposits that had successfully resisted any removal attempts until they were targeted with a laser beam, which got rid of them quickly and effectively. Meeting Wrocław School of Artisan Crafts and Management students was a great and inspiring experience, while observing their commitment to learning and work was a true pleasure.
