Toruń, October-November 2017
Our lab was entrusted with a project to carry out tests on a painting made on a wooden panel, representing the Head of St. John the Baptist on a Platter, attributed to an artist from the circle of Albrecht Bouts, son of Dirk Bouts, a Flemish painter (15th c.).
The tests were carried out using non-destructive methods – multispectral photography and macro-XRF.
The latter one was applied by courtesy of MOLAB PL and FIXLAB PL, members of a consortium of Polish institutions dedicated to studying cultural heritage. The test was conducted at the Centre for Modern Technologies, Nicolaus Copernicus University (ICNT UMK), Toruń.
