Warsaw – the Old Orangery

Warsaw – the Old Orangery. Marbles from the Old Orangery, Warsaw Royal Baths Museum, 2015

The restored collection consisted of 5 historical copies of ancient works: Apollo Belvedere, Apollo with the Lizard, the Gypsy, Eros Stringing his Bow and Venus. They were sculpted in Carrara marble in the 19th c.

Treatment, including prior testing, was entirely carried out in our Laboratory workshops.

Cleaning was conducted by means of laser ablation. The condition of the surface—its color and glossiness—during treatment was monitored with a spectrophotometer. The spectrophotometry analysis and microscopic observation confirmed that the surface had retained all of its original qualities after cleaning. The unique exhibition quality of the sculptures was restored.
